DRMeX

Hi! I’m Mashy, a senior Research Software Engineer at University College London’s Advanced Research Computing centre (ARC). Welcome to the Digital Research Methodological Knowledge eXchange webpage.

DRMeX is a CAKE knowledge exchange fellowship piloting a framework for digital research technology professionals (dRTPs) to share the computational methodologies behind the work we do.

As dRTPs, we often work across disciplinary boundaries, using a wide range of computational methodologies. By stripping away the science, the framework will focus on sharing how and why methods used for numerical analysis, signal processing, agent-based modelling, automatic differentiation and more work (including whichever method you would like to share!), rather than on what they are used for in any particular field.

Through accessible dRTP-led sessions supported by interactive notebooks, DRMeX strives to build a shared methodological vocabulary, encourage cross-fertilisation of ideas from distinct domains, and hopefully also inspire new dRTP-led research. My aim is for anyone to be able to gain an insight into and appreciation for these methods, not to be able to program them. You can read a little more about the fellowship and its aims [[here][]].

Introductory talks

I would like to organise short introductory talks with different dRTP and RSE groups to present the project and offer an exemplar methodological knowledge exchange session open to everyone (no prior familiarity with the topic required). Following the talk, I’d be keen to hear how your group might benefit from, or would like to contribute to, this form of knowledge exchange.
